There was plenty of drama and great performances during a game between two struggling teams at Nashua’s Conway Arena on Saturday to highlight a busy day locally.
The Nashua South-Pelham Kings scored in the final seconds to force overtime in a tie with Alvirne-Milford. That’s the drama. The great performance was a 63-save effort on the part of Admirals goalie Trent Scarbro.
“He’s seeing over 40 shots a game,” Alvirne-Milford coach Dave Thibeault said.
Meanwhile, Kings coach Jordan Sarracco was just as pleased with his team’s resiliency. “They worked hard for every minute, every second of that third period to come from behind,” he said. “They continued to grind until the very last second.”
On the hardwood, the Milford girls got a big win over rival Souhegan and the Bishop Guertn girls romped over visiting Mercy of Connecticut, bouncing back nicely from their tough loss at Pinkerton on Thursday.
“The kids did a great job turning the page after Thursday night, as disappointing as it was,” Cards coach Brad Kreick said. “They just were ready to play today, I was really proud of how they showed up to play after such a disappointing loss.”
