NASHUA – The Rivier men’s lacrosse team stormed past Regis (Mass) 15-4 in Saturday afternoon’s Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinal matchup at Joanne Merrill Field.

With the win, the Raiders advance to the semifinals with a 16-0 record, while the Pride end their season with a 5-9 record.

The Raiders will take on the fifth seeded Norwich Cadets in the GNAC Semis Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Merrill Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Rivier opened the scoring with a goal from sophomore Mason Schultz and took control with three of the next four, including two from sophomore James DelPrete. First-year Conor Walsh added a man-up goal off an assist from classmate Andrew Nee as the Raiders built a 4-1 lead and limited Regis to just one early response.

The Raiders added to the lead in the second with goals from first-year Colin Foley and Schultz to make it 6-1. The Pride found the net late in the quarter, but Rivier maintained control and carried a four-goal advantage into halftime.

The Raiders broke the game open in the third, scoring five times while holding Regis scoreless. Schultz started the run, with Walsh following up with back-to-back goals off Nee assists. Sophomore Aiden Conley and Walsh added to the stretch as the lead grew to nine.

The Pride opened the fourth with a man-up goal, but Rivier responded with four of the next five to close out the game. Schultz scored three times in the quarter, and Nee added a goal as the Raiders pulled away down the stretch, sealing the contest 15-4.

Schultz paced the offense with seven points on six goals and an assist.

Nee and first-year Luke Armano led the team with five ground balls each.
