HUDSON – Yasin Shearin, 28, of Staten Island, N.Y., was taken into custody on Jan. 22 in connection with his alleged involvement with an organized retail theft operation.
According to the Hudson Police Department, on Dec. 17, 2025, officers responded to the Walmart at 254 Lowell Rd. for the report of a repeat theft offender. At the time, store personnel requested that a criminal trespass notice be issued.
During the investigation, police developed evidence connecting Shearin with a prior theft at the same Walmart location.
When being interviewed by police, Shearin gave conflicting information regarding his identity. He also reportedly resisted arrest and ran out of the store. A short time later, officers located him at a McDonald’s on Lowell Road and took him into custody.
Further investigation indicated that Shearin was part of an extensive retail theft operation focused on over-the-counter medications. Officers reportedly recovered 455 over-the-counter medications while searching a vehicle that was linked to the incident.
In addition, surveillance footage connected Shearin with thefts at multiple Hannaford Supermarket locations including the store at 77 Derry Rd. in Hudson.
Shearin has been charged with receiving stolen property, organized retail crime enterprise, theft by unauthorized taking, willful concealment, resisting arrest and obstruction of government administration.
He was held without bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Jan. 23.
Under state law, if convicted, Shearin could face up to 32 years in prison, up to 15 years of probation and up to $18,000 in fines.
