City man facing six counts of theft

NASHUA – Augustine Mauras, 34, of Nashua, was taken into custody on Dec. 17 in connection with a series of retail thefts.
According to the Nashua Police Department, between February and May, officers received numerous reports of clothing being stolen from Abercrombie & Fitch and Aeropostale. In total, 230 clothing items, with a collective value of $14,000, were reported stolen.
Mauras was detained by the Asset Protection team at Abercrombie and Fitch on May 16. However, he allegedly became physically combative and fled before police arrived.
Mauras has been charged with six counts of theft by unauthorized taking.
He refused bail and was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on Dec. 18.
Under state law, if convicted, he could face up to 90 years in prison, up to 30 years of probation and up to $24,000 in fines.
