MANCHESTER – Christopher Rodriguez, 40, was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshal Service on Aug. 28 initially on warrants issued by the Londonderry Police Department.

The warrants were issued following “deceptive statements” that Rodriguez reportedly made to police during an encounter on Aug. 9. Authorities also learned that Rodriguez was convicted of second-degree murder and armed robbery in 1999 in New York City. He was incarcerated for 17 years and was released in 2017.

While taking Rodriguez into custody, marshals found a 15-year-old girl from North Andover, Mass. who had been reported missing. Rodriguez had allegedly kidnapped her and the two were living in a van. According to law enforcement officials, Rodriguez may have been involved with the girl for the past two years.

The girl was returned to the Massachusetts Department of Youth Services.

Rodriguez has been charged with kidnapping a juvenile, endangering the welfare of a child, hindering apprehension or prosecution and obstructing government administration.

He was taken to the Londonderry Police Department and will appear in court at a later date.

Under state law, if convicted, Rodriguez could face up to 24 years in prison, up to 10 years of probation and up to $12,000 in fines.
