NYC man charged with check fraud

NASHUA – Rolando Oquendo, 57, of New York City, was taken into custody on May 12 for alleged check fraud.
According to the Nashua Police Department, officers responded to Citizens Bank at 1 Trafalgar Sq. and learned that Oquendo had attempted to cash a fraudulent check in the amount of $9,800.
He has been charged with attempted theft by deception in excess of $1,500.
Under state law, if convicted, Oquendo could face up to 15 years in prison, up to five years of probation and a fine of up to $4,000.
He refused the services of a bail commissioner and was scheduled to be arraigned in Nashua District Court on May 13.
