Opioid prescriptions lead to doctor’s suspension
AMHERST – A doctor had her license suspended 30 days after the New Hampshire Board of Medicine found she violated procedures in prescribing opioid painkillers to at least a dozen patients.
Concetta Oteri-Ahmadpour agreed to the suspension, with the stipulation she could cut it down to 15 days by following through on new guidelines, including that she not prescribe any more opioids.
The board found that Oteri-Ahmadpour failed to keep proper records, and failed to fully examine a dozen patients before giving them dozens of prescriptions for opioids, some as many as 48 prescriptions.
Also with the prohibition from prescribing opioids, Oteri-Ahmadpour must take training classes in records keeping ethics, and psychopharmacology. She is fined $10,000, with $7,000 of that suspended.
Oteri-Ahmadpour’s license suspension began late last week and runs through to the end of the month.
