Rivier’s Bryda, Bruno grab weekly MASCAC hockey awards

NASHUA – Women’s ice hockey first-year forward Chloe Bryda and junior goaltender Taylor Bruno both had standout weeks, leading the Raiders to a2-1 week and 2-0 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) play.
The Cumberland, R.I., native put together a dominant weekend, totaling six points on three goals and three assists with a +3 rating. In the 4-0 shutout of the AMCATS, Bryda posted a goal and two assists with a +2 rating, then followed with two goals and an assist, also at +2, in the 5-2 victory over Framingham State. The performance earned her fourth Rookie of the Week honor and second Player of the Week selection this season.
Bruno earned her third Goalie of the Week honor after posting 68 saves, a 1.00 goals-against average, and a .971 save percentage across two conference contests. She stopped all 35 shots she faced in a shutout win over Anna Maria, her second of the season, before turning aside 33 shots in a 5-2 victory over the Rams.
Following these performances, Bryda now leads the team with 20 points and 11 goals. In net, Bruno ranks first in goals-against average (1.60), save percentage (.950), and win percentage (.636).
Bryda, Bruno, and the Raiders return to action this weekend for two more MASCAC contests, beginning Friday, February 6, at Rockett Arena against Salem State, with puck drop set for 6:00 p.m. The Raiders then return home to face Worcester State on Saturday, February 7, at 7:00 p.m.
