Amherst’s Brayden Hickman and fellow Souhegan alum Jaiden Bosquet, plus Bishop Guertin recent grad Caden Siraco are going to the World Series – the American Legion World Series, that is.

Hickman’s Bedford Post 54, which beat Nashua’s Coffey Post in the state finals, went on to capture the Northeast Regional in Worcester this past weekend and will now head to Shelby, N.C.for Thursday’s Series opener in pool play vs. Midland, Mich.at 10 a.m.

Bedford fought its way out of the losers bracket and beat Essex Junction of Vermont not once but twice in Sunday’s finals at Worcester’s Fitton Field, on the campus of Holy Cross.

Essex Junction had actually beaten Bedford in Post 54’s third game, 7-6, this past Friday. But Bedford romped in two straight in the finals, 10-1 and 12-3. Bosquet in the title game went 3 for 4 with four RBIs and sealed the deal pitching a scoreless seventh.

Noah Durham got the win for Bedford in the title game with six innings of three-run ball.

Bedford edged Cumberland,R.I. 6-5 in an elimination game to advance to the finals.

Now what?

After Thursday’s game vs. Berryhill Post 165, Bedford will take on Portland, Ore. Post 158 on Friday at 4 p.m., then Jacksonville, Fla. Post 316 on Saturday at 7 p.m.
