Rivier men’s hockey can’t stay with ranked Salve Regina

NASHUA – The Rivier men’s ice hockey tell dropped a non-conference matchup against No. 15/RV Salve Regina, 11-1, Friday evening at Conway Arena.

With the loss, the Raiders fell to 1-14-1, while the Seahawks improved to 17-3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Salve Regina opened the contest netting four pucks in the first period.

The Seahawks’ first tally came just four minutes into the contest.

Salve Regina added three more goals in a four-minute span with the first coming at 13:21 and the third recorded at the 8:48 mark, giving the Seahawks a 4-0 lead.

Salve Regina continued to surge offensively, adding four more goals in the first 11 minutes of the second period.

Rivier recorded its first and only tally at 13:03 in the second, as sophomore Brady Bomal capitalized on feeds from first-year Mason Rudrud and classmate Michael Caparco for the power-play goal.

The Seahawks added one more score with 3:50 remaining in the second period to regain their eight-goal advantage.

Salve Regina added two more scores in the final 20 minutes of action to secure the 11-1 victory.

BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN

First-year Dylan Boughen, sophomore Josh Kirton, and junior Mason Meyer, combined for 35 saves.

UP NEXT

The Raiders return to the ice next Saturday, Jan. 24 for a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) matchup with Framingham St. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Conway Arena.
