City Golf: Fitzgerald has four-shot lead; final round today
NASHUA — Jack Fitzgerald of Sky Meadow used home course advantage to grab a four-shot lead after the first of two rounds of the 65th annual Nashua City Golf Championship.
Round 1 was at Sky Meadow on Saturday, and Fitzgerald fired a five-under 67, recording six birdies with his only bogey on the par 4 12th. Nate Crowley was next with a one-under 71, while fellow Nashua Country Club member Craig Moran was third with an even par 72.
Today’s final round is at Nashua Country Club, and there will certainly be a lot of members hoping for that same advantage. It will be played rain or shine.
Three-time New Hampshire State Amateur champion and two-time City champion James Pleat was in a three-way tie for fourth with Bryce Zimmerman and Northern Spy’s Shawn Amari at one-over 73. Former City champ Jon Dyer was alone in seventh at 74 while Austin Baker (NH Golf e-club) was eighth at 77 and Sky Meadow’s Harry Garland was a six over 78 in ninth.
There’s a four-way tie for 10th at seven over: Michael Amari, Derek LeClair, Andrew Dratch and Shane Foye.
SENIOR DIVISION
NCC’s Eric McCoy at three under 69 has a three-shot lead over fellow NCC member Phil Pleat (even par 72). Two Souhegan Woods golfers, Steve Lane and Eric Emeneau are tied for third at three-over 75. Lane is a former Senior champ, while Pleat has eight City championships to his credit.

The championship flite leaders, as expected, will be the last groups to tee off. Fitzgerald, Crowley and Moran are in the final threesome teeing off at 2:51 p.m., while Amari, Zimmerman and James Pleat are just ahead at 2:42 p.m. Dyer, Baker and Garland are at 2:33 p.m.
