Like the 1993 film “Groundhog Day” with Bill Murray, the Silver Knights’ schedule has been repeating itself.

And not in a good way.

After two losses against the Sea Unicorns over the weekend with back-to-back contests against them Wednesday and tonight, Nashua is praying to wake up from this everlasting Norwich Nightmare. And nightmarish season in general.

Unfortunately for the Knights, just like the film, time keeps repeating itself. The Sea Unicorns ran away with Wednesday’s contest 10-4 for their third straight victory over Nashua. It’s the Silver Knights’ sixth straight loss and drops them to a more-than-frustrating 7-23 on the season as they return to Holman Stadium tonight to face the Sea Unicorns yet again at 6 p.m.

Norwich muscled past Nashua, outhitting them 15-6 with the Knights giving up double-digit runs for the fourth time this season. Seven of the nine Unicorns posted multi-hit games, with Rhode Island’s D.J. Perron leading the charge on a three-hit and two-RBI night. Norwich middle reliever Christo Garrelts handcuffed Nashua with five scoreless two-hit innings.

Conversely, Nashua needed six pitchers to get through the game. Southern New Hampshire’s Trevor Anibal made his first start with the Knights, throwing three solid frames before running into trouble in the fourth. New Haven’s Andrew Bianco hit a solo home run in what would become a three-run fourth for Norwich.

Even with the runaway deficit, there were several notable Knight bats in this contest. Clark’s Ryan Caulfield and Palm Beach Atlantic’s Pedro Figueroa both had two hit nights, with Southern New Hampshire’s Nater Wachter posting two RBIs along with one hit. Wachter would post the first run of the ballgame in the first for Nashua’s only lead of the night before Norwich’s eruption began.

Despite the uptick in activity at the plate from Nashua, the Unicorn offense was too much to overcome. Norwich would post a four-run seventh and a two-run eighth, giving the team three multi-run innings on the night with 10 runs to show for it.

Nashua would add runs in the eighth and ninth, including a two-run inning eighth with Dayton’s Zach Scott bringing home Cypress’s and former Nashua South standout Albert De La Rosa to score on a base knock following De La Rosa’s leadoff walk.

After adding one in the ninth, the Knights couldn’t muster up any more offense in what would become their sixth straight loss. Now headed home to face these same Sea Unicorns, Nashua will have to find the answers to their issues in order to avoid four straight losses to Norwich.
