POOL RULE! Saber boys capture second straight state title

The Souhegan High School boys swim team rules the NHIAA Division II pool again.
The Sabers captured their second straight state title at the University of New Hampshire’s Swasey Pool, edging out Hanover for the second straight year, 233-204. Hollis Brookline was fifth with 90 points. Milford finished 14th with 13.
Oyster River (164) and Coe-Brown (112) were third and fourth, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Saber girls (150) took second behind Hanover (190) and Milford had a strong showing finishing fourth with 114 points. HB was sixth at 82. Oyster River (149) was third.
DIVISION II BOYS
“Our swimmers worked hard this season and led with humility,” Sabers coach Dan Thibodeau said. “I just ask that they be good sportsmen, swim their best, to have fun and enjoy the meet.”
And they did just that.
Riley Wilson was a key for the Sabers, taking first in the 200 IM at 1:56.10 and the 500 free in 4:47.02
Thatcher Daily was huge as well, winning the 50 free in 22.24 seconds as well as the 100 free in 49.12 seconds.
Jack Bortolotto was second in the 100 fly in 54.84 seconds and the 500 free in 5:10.76.
Souhegan diver Sam Hogan on Friday night was second with 253.35 points.
The Sabers cleaned up in the relays, with two firsts and a third.
Souhegan captured the 200 free relay in 1:35.94 with Colin Turner, Bortolotto, Charlie Saunders and Dailey competing.
In the boys 200 medley relay, the Saber foursome of Saunders, Wilson, Bortolotto and Drew Rigaut took third in 1:52.47.
Then they won the 400 free relay in 3:29.73 with Wilson, Rigaut, Turner and and Daily competing.
Turner was second in the 100 back in 55.07 and third in the 200 free in 1:47.31. Saunders was sixth in the 100 back.
For HB, Jack Ablondi led the way as he was first in the 100 breast in 1:00.27 and took second in the 200 free at 1:47.26.
The Cavs foursome of J.D. Hubacker, Ablondi, Jake Klauber and Mark Chakarian was third in 1:42.04
Hubacker was fifth in the 100 breast.
Hollis Brookline took fifth in the 200 medley relay with John Crooks, Ablondi, Hubacker and Mark Chakarian combining for a time of 1:53.67.
Milford’s Jack Bastarache was sixth in the 500 free in 6:16.62.
DIVISION II GIRLS
Keara Wilson and Izzie Gilbert were huge keys for the Sabers, Gilbert winning the 200 IM in 2:08.64, a record time, plus the 100 Breast in 1:03.52
Wilson also won the 500 free in 5:14.77 plus the 100 back in 1:00.27.
The Saber girls were, like the boys, relay champs. The foursome of Keara Wilson, Gilbert, Caitlyn Chorney and Stella Foley took the 200 Medley Relay in 1:55.43.
Then the same group teamed up for a win in the 200 Free in 1:47.67.
Saber diver Stella Foley took second with 307.85 points. Chorney was sixth in the 100 fly in 1:06.91.
Milford’s Willa Audley and Hannah Baron had great days. Audley won the 200 free in 2:00.12 while taking second in the 500 free in 5:21.58.
Not to be oudone, Baron won the 50 free in 24.24 seconds and the 100 free in 53.68. The two teamed up with Shilo Chappell and Evelynn Kirchberger to take third in the 200 Free Relay in 1:49.66 and second in the 400 Free in 4:04.53.
Hollis Brookline was fifth in the 200 Medley Relay behind Abby Hood, Annika Pisarsky, Lexi Dattis and Olivia Chakarian in 2:08.87. The Cavs were sixth in the 200 Free Relay (Dattis, Shantell Riitano, Chakarian and Pisarsky) in 1:53.41.
Dattis took second in the 100 fly in 1:03.47 and was third in the 100 back in 1:05.48. Pisarsky was third in the 100 Breast in 1:15.07, and was seventh in the 100 fly in 1:07.24.
