NASHUA — The Rivier women’s hockey team fell just short Tuesday night at the hands of Salem State University, 2-1, at Conway Arena.
All scoring came in the second period tonight. The Vikings would go up 2-0 in the first 15 minutes of the period. Makayla McGrath and Benna Greene put in the two goals for Salem (5-15-0). McGrath’s goal came off of a rebound in the crease, while Greene’s was a one-time wrist shot from the point that finished just under the crossbar above the tender’s stick side shoulder.
Rivier (1-12-2) would cut the deficit in half with a goal by Ellie Grady (Kingston, Mass.) at the 16:09 mark. She was able to beat the Viking goaltender on a fast break stick side in front of the net.
Maddy Morgan (Rivierside, CA) was tagged with the loss but recorded 35 saves and kept the Raiders within striking distance.
