Nashua faces Exeter in Junior Legion finals in Manchester
The Nashua Coffey Post Legion baseball program has another shot at a state title on Tuesday.
And another seacoast team stands in the way.
In the Senior state tournament last month, Portsmouth beat Nashua twice to get the crown. And today, in the Junior State Tournament at Manchester’s Gill Stadium, Nashua has two chances again to get a championship, this time vs. Exeter.
Exeter beat Berlin on Monday night at Gill to emerge from the losers bracket, where Nashua sent it with a resounding 8-0 win on Sunday.
Now, the Coffey kids will look to do it again. If Nashua wins the 4 p.m. game, it grabs a state title and will move on to the final stop, the Northeast Regional in West Haverstraw, N.Y. There is no World Series at the Junior level.
If Nashua loses the 4 p.m. game, a winner-take-all game will be played at about 6:30 to settle things in the double elimination affair.
TRYOUTS SET
Coffey Post 3 Baseball will be holding tryouts for the 2022 season on Wednesday at Bishop Guertin from 5-7 p.m. and also Monday, Aug. 16 at Holman Stadium at the same time. (subject to change). Players can register via a link provided on the program’s twitter account. Any questions contact the coaches at nashualegionbb@gmail.com.
