Hudson suffers sweep but set to host quarterfinal Monday

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Aug 2, 2020

It appears Hudson will likely end up either as the third or fourth seed in the upcoming New England Independent Baseball League tournament after a 2-0, 6-0 doubleheader loss to Weare on Saturday at Alvirne High School.

The locals, who finished at 12-3-2, still look like they’ll host a quarterfinal Monday, but the opponent has yet to be determined.

Alec Bouley took the hard luck loss in the first game as Hudson managed just four hits. In the nightcap, Josh MacDonald threw strikes but still took the loss as Hudson managed just one hit. Weare, meanwhile, vaulted into the top spot in the NEIBL at 15-4.

Elsewhere, Merrimack and Hollis Brookline wrapped up their NEIBL seasons. Merrimack won the first game on a walk-off single by Evan Roy, driving in Keaton Miller with the game-winner.

Hollis Brookline came back to win the second game, 8-5, despite a two-run Merrimack rally in the seventh.

HB finishes the season at 4-16 while Merrimack ends at 5-13-1.
