Rivier Roundup: Several Raiders gain in-season, postseason awards

NASHUA — Following his second Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week award, first-year Henri Brochu has been named to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division III Team of the Week, the association announced Monday afternoon.
Brochu logged eight points on six goals and two assists last week for the Raiders. The attacker scored twice and assisted in the 15-1 win over New England College. He capped off the week with four goals, including the game-winner in overtime, versus Saint Joseph (Conn.).
Along with its Team of the Week recognition, the Rivier men’s lacrosse team earned votes in the NEILA Division III Coaches Poll for the first time in program history.
Also, Brochu and sophomore Jake Lydon were named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Co-Rookie of the Week and Goalkeeper of the Week, respectively, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Brochu earned Rookie of the Week honors for the second time this season following an eight-point performance during a 2-0 week for the Rivier men’s lacrosse team..
Lydon collected his fifth Goalkeeper of the Week award after posting 19 saves and a 65.5 save percentage on the week. The Rowley, Mass., native made seven saves with an 87.5 save percentage against New England College before adding 12 saves in the overtime win over Saint Joseph (Conn.).
Brochu, Lydon, and the Raiders return to action Wednesday for a conference contest with Saint Joseph’s (Me.). The opening faceoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the SJC Athletic Complex.
SOFTBALL
POLITZ GNAC ROOKIE OF WEEK
First-year Emma Politz has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
The Wayne, N.J. native recorded 11 hits in 25 at bats, with zero strikeouts on the week. Batting a .440 clip, and a .560 slugging percentage. Politz recorded four RBI and three doubles at the plate. Politz highlighted her week with a standout performance on Saturday, collecting six hits in 11 at bats, against Mitchell, setting a career record. Politz recorded the go ahead double in the sixth inning of game two against Emmanuel (Mass.) to bring the Raiders up two heading into the seventh inning, before eventually winning 10-8.
In the field, Politz was nearly perfect having 18 putouts on 19 chances.
Politz and the Raiders return to action Wednesday evening at Raider Diamond for a three-game homestand. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. against intrastate foe Colby-Sawyer.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
RAIDERS MAKE ALL-GNAC
Junior Tyler Dickinson, senior Matthew McCloskey, and first-year Wilfredo Castillo earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) awards, the conference announced.
Dickinson was named GNAC First Team All-Conference following a career year with the Raiders in 2026. The middle blocker recorded 191 kills, averaging 2.12 per set, while hitting .411, marks that rank 11th and first in the conference, respectively. The Lincoln, R.I. native added 98 blocks, leading the GNAC at 1.09 per set.
McCloskey capped his four-year career with his second straight GNAC Second Team All-Conference selection. The Salem product totaled 157 kills (1.80 per set) and posted a .346 hitting percentage. He also contributed 66 blocks, 50 digs, and 17 service aces throughout the campaign.
Castillo rounded out the postseason honors with a spot on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team. The Bayamon, Puerto Rico native appeared in 12 sets during the year and recorded his first collegiate kill in the sweep over VTSU-Johnson on January 30.
“Wilfredo embodies what you want in a teammate,” said head coach Casey Fitzpatrick. “He shows up with a great attitude, works hard, and supports everyone around him. This honor reflects the impact he makes on our program.”
