Some high school teams tried to get the jump on Mother Nature by playing on Thursday night, and it certainly worked for a few. Others, like both Bishop Guertin teams and Nashua South girls, were already scheduled and rolled. And the Hollis Brookline boys escaped in their toughest regular season game of the season.
Here’s the rundown:

BISHOP GUERTIN 89, TIMBERLANE 50
Connor McGowan collected 21 points as the Cardinals (13-4) fly over the Owls. Eli Youssef had a hot hand as well scoring 19 points with Josh Corriveau and Sam Woodward adding 10 apiece. BG visits Winnacunnet on Tuesday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 68, MERRIMACK VALLEY 57
Alton Williams had 30 points and James Arthur added 14 as the Cavaliers stayed unbeaten at 17-0, but it wasn’t easy. MV led 37-25 at the half but HB got back into it with an 18-9 third quarter and poured in 25 fourth-quarter points to win it.
Renzo Bergskaug, Williams and Dylan Kelley played well defensively for HB, which hosts local rival Milford on Tuesday to wrap up the Division II regular season.
