HS Roundup: Hoop wins for HB girls, both Souhegan teams

Ahhhh, there’s nothing like magic of Senior Night.

It worked for Hollis Brookline’s Ana O’Donnell, as she led the Cavaliers to their eighth straight win. Meanwhile, O’Donnell wasn’t the only local to have a big night as you can chalk up wins for both Souhegan teams that included a career mileston.

It a Makeup Monday for a few local teams after recent storm postponements, so here’s the rundown:

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 57, KINGSWOOD 46

O’Donnell poured in 25 points, while Samantha Disco added 11 and the red-hot Cavs got six others into the scoring column to improve to 11-4.

HB led 26-16 at the half and survived an 18-point Kingswood fourth quarter. The Cavs are at Lebanon tonight in a quick turnaround.

SOUHEGAN 59, PLYMOUTH 43

Saber Julia Skelton had a career high 22 points that included five 3-pointers in Amherst as the Sabers improved to 10-5.

Nayaa Dineshkumar had 14 points whie Brynn Siska and Mariellah Dart added six apiece.

Souhegan used a 10-0 run at the end of the seccond quarter to lead 33-23 at the half and take control thereafter.

Souhegan, which is ending the regular season with four straight home games, hosts Sanborn tonight.

BOYS BASKETBALL

SOUHEGAN 54, PLYMOUTH 42

Wes Hickman had 21 points as the Sabers won their third straight, improving to 8-7.

Joe Mayo added 16 for the Sabers, who are at Sanborn tonight.

GIRLS HOCKEY

HANOVER 10, BISHOP GUERTIN 0

It was a tough afternoon at Skate 3 for the Cards, who dropped to 3-12 while the Bears won their fourth straight. Hanover is 7-7 but all but two of their losses are out-of-state. The other two were to Lebanon-Kearsarge-Mascoma.

BG, meanwhile, is at Salem on Saturday.

CAMPBELL HOOP TEAMS IN DIVISION III TOURNEY

Both Campbell basketball teams will begin tourney play against Division III teams they did not face during the regular season.

The Cougar boys finished 8-9, good for the No. 12 seed and will be at No. 5 Stevens (15-3) tonight in the prelims.

The No. 14 Cougar girls, meanwhile, grabbed the last tourney spot at 6-11 and will head to No. 3 Gilford (15-3) on Wednesday at 6 p.m.in their preliminary round tilt.
