HS Roundup: North’s Neveu, BG’s Hughe shine at ski meet

There’s always other events, but very often during the winter Thursdays belong to the high school skiers.

And yesterday belonged to a skier like Nashua North’s Rosalie Neveu. And there’s a little track in there, too, with the Wildcat Relays.

Here’s the rundown:

BOYS & GIRLS SKIING

NORTH’S NEVEU, BG’S HUGHES DO WELL

Nashua North’s Rosalie Neveu was third overall for the second straight week in a multi-team Alpine meet at Pat’s Peak hosted by Pinkerton and won by Bedford. Bishop Guertin’s Arianna Hughes was fifth as the Cardinals were the top local team with a fourth place finish (339 points).

Hughes had a combined time of 55.40 seconds, while BG’s Alyssa Pomerleau was 11th (1:00.34), followed by Cardinals Regan Trudel (33, 1:07.25) and Stella Dabrowski (34, 1:08.04)

But Neveu took the local spotlight as she raced with a time of 54.58 seconds, good for 98 points. Sam Nardone was 29th in 1:05.16 while Sarah Frye was 39th in 1:13.55.

In the boys meet won by Winnacunnet (387.5), Bishop Guertin was sixth (320) led by top local Finley Bouvier (11, 58.13) and Connor O’Donnell (14, 1:00.43). Cards Patrick Flood was 38th and James Neal 46th.

Nashua North was eighth (301) led by Finn Larney (27, 1:04.58), Hunter Sullivan (30, 1:06.74), Max L’Italien (34, 1:01.18) and Jimmy Lombardi (41, 1:12.03).

South was ninth at 135. Akhil Brommisetty (54th) and Pragnya Aeron (60th) were the Panthers who placed.

BOYS & GIRLS TRACK

LOCALS DO WELL AT WILDCAT RELAYS

Local athletes did well at the event at UNH held on Wednesday-Thursday.

In the boys meet, Souhegan’s John Katsel won the 55 meter dash in 6.90 as well as the long jump in 20-3.5.

Alvirne’s Joey Marcotte was first in the 55 hurdles (7.97), just ahead of second place Nashua South’s Preston Bois.

Alvirne won the 4×160 relay with the group of Shane Plumley, Marcotte,Jeremiah Caraballo-Sophos, and Jaden Taylor in 1:15.27. Nashua North was second.

Nashua South was second in the 4×800 relay (Matthew Motherway, Isaiah Rodriguez, Sriam Vanga and Pranav Dasari). Nashua North’s Dominick Coffie won the shot put at 45-4.

For the girls, Nashua North was second in the 4×400 relay (Allison Frye, Abigail Azevedo, Rosalie Neveu and Charlotte Wilson).
