HS Roundup: Spartans capture Nashua HOF Tourney

The event of the day Saturday for local high schools was clear: The Nashua High School South Hall of Fame Invitational Wrestling Tournament.

You can bet the Milford Spartans feel that way as they ran away with the boys title with 233.9 points – well ahead of Reading, Mass. with 154.

Bishop Guertin was third with 151 while Hollis Brookline took fourth at 150. Nashua North was eighth (92) with South 11th (74.5). Merrimack was 16th at 41.5.

Milford got wins from Max Hammerstrom at 126, Francisco Juvera at 138, Calix Lajoie was second at 144, and the Spartans got thirds from Kiernan Lordan at 120, Cam Stickney at 132, Phillip Wright at 157, Jameson Noble at 285 plus Eli Wales. Jace Wilhelmi took fourth at 165. Jack Clancy had a fourth as well.

BG’s Jack Foster took first at 175, going 4-0, while Austin Steinruck won at 132 and Bishop Kearns captured the 285 title. Dominic Stamp was fourth at 150. Wesley Steinruck was second at 106.

Hollis Brookline’s Victor Lomme won at 120, as did Jacob Critchfield at 165. Scout Crea was third at 126. Harrison Holmes was fifth at 215.

Nashua South’s Ben Byrne captured the title at 157 while Ian McCubrey was second at 215.

North’s Sebastioan Ochoa was second at 126. TaVyon Moore was fourth at 144 Caleb Smith was fifth at 138, and Mason Bracetty was sixth at 285.

Merrimack’s Cash Torres took fourth at 157.

In girls competition, Alvirne took sixth with 32 points as Salem won it with 101.Merrimack was ninth (21) while Bishop Guertn and Nashua South were 12th (16) and Milford 14th (13)

The Broncos’ Jillian Boncore captured first place at 185; Paige Bickford was second at 100.

Merrimack’s Suzana De Brito took first at 152, while Danielle Elnar was sixth at 165. Bishop Guertin’s Ayla Saeturn was second at 165.

Nashua South’s Amber Wong took fourth at 145. Milford’s Mya Coombs was third at 165.

CAMPBELL DOES WELL IN PELHAM TOURNEY

The Cougars’ Sam Baker led the way in the Dan Gionet tourney with a first place finish thanks to three pins and a technical fall, outscoring opponents 37-3. Sage Anctil and Jaydon Uccello took thirds.

BOYS HOCKEY

HANOVER 6, BISHOP GUERTIN 4

The Cards suffered their second loss of the season (3-2) as they gave up three third period goals to the Bears.

Jordan O’Hearn had a pair of goals while Gavin Santos had a goal and an assist. Jack Stone also scored while Anthony Dobruchi and Will McBournie also had assists.

BG doesn’t play again until next Saturday vs. Concord at Everett Arena.

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 9, TIMBERLANE-PELHAM 4

Brandon Ganas had a seven point game with a hat trick and four assists as the Admirals improved to 4-2 with its third straight win. Brandon Callahan had two goals and an assist while other goals were by Chris Bozza, Evan Pargas, Landon Briand and Luke Green, who also had four assists.

Mason Tomkins, Dylan MacLeod, Aiden Bradish and Brandon Hiltz all had assists while Ari Scarbro had 13 saves.

The Admirals next host the Merrimack-Hollis Brookline-Derryfield WarHawksat Skate 3 on Wednesday at 7:50 p.m.

MHBDS 4, WINNACUNNET 1

The WarHawks got two goals from Colin Hamlin plus a goal each by Josh Kahn (with an asssist) and Will Farrell to improve to 3-3-1.

Alex May had two assists while Felix Rattunde had an assist. Liam Gagne had 25 saves in goal for the WarHawks, who face the Admirals on Wednesday at Skate 3.
