HS Roundup: Cavaliers pick up where they left off, 6-1

Some high school programs just seem to know how to win, and it’s that way with the Hollis Brookline girls soccer team, who finally opened their season as two-time defending Division II champions on Friday with, what else? A win.

It was a good day for a lot of local teams, so let’s take a look:

GIRLS SOCCER

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 6, PEMBROKE 1

Rosalie DeSantis and Marleigh Kreick each tallied two goals and an assist for the Cavs, who extended their winning streak to 39 spanning two-plus seasons. Sam Disco (goal, assist), Molly Reardon (goal) and CC Dufoe (assist), helped out the offense.

Madeleine Leonard made three saves with Kai Swart and Cassidy Engle making contributions. HB visits Keene on Monday.

MILFORD 1, COE-BROWN 1

Kinsley Matsis got the goal for Milford, assisted by Maya Remella. Delaney Barber had seven saves for the Spartans, now 2-0-1. Milford is at Kingswood on Tuesday.

BOYS SOCCER

SOUHEGAN 2, PELHAM 0

The Sabers shutout the Pythons in their home opener on Friday. Eric Davis and Ryan Stone each had a goal. Evan Bernasconi and Nathan Emerson tallied assists and Finnegan Daly made two saves.

Souhegan visits Plymouth on Tuesday.

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0, PEMBROKE 0

The Cavs played to a scoreless draw with Pembroke. Ian Sinclair (five saves) and Noah Natalino were the standouts for HB. HB hosts Merrimack Valley on Tuesday.

FIELD HOCKEY

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 5, CONVAL 0

The Cavs grab another shutout win after defeating ConVal. Scoring goals for the locals were Caroline Crawford (two), Brooke Bouchard, Anna McGurk and Lilly Hamilton. HB hosts Milford on Wednesday.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

NASHUA SOUTH 3, KEENE 0

The Panthers sweep the Black Birds 25-15, 25-14, 25-20. Leading the way for South were Addy Campbell (five kills, three aces, five digs), Rebecca Macdonald (five kills, two blocks), Rebecca Walters (four kills, 14 assists) and Briley Landsteiner (21 digs). South visits Dover on Monday.

LONDONDERRY 3, NASHUA NORTH 1

The Titans fall to the Lancers 25-19, 16-25, 21-25, 20-25. North hosts Concord on Monday.
