HS Football Roundup: Panthers zip by MC; BG, Campbell win

There was good and bad news on the gridiron for local high school teams on Friday night.

Good news for Nashua South, Bishop Guertin, and Campbell. Bad news for Hollis Brookline, Milford, and Alvirne.

Here’s the Friday Football rundown:

DIVISION I

NASHUA SOUTH 36, MALDEN (Mass.) CATHOLIC 25

Cody Jackson threw for 210 yards and three TDs, completing 18 of 24 passes while also rushing for 59 yards on 10 carries. His favorite target, Josh Tripp, had seven catches for 86 yards and two TDs on offense and had an interception on defense.

Sam Levine rushed for 70 yards and a TD on 15 carries, and also had a 4-yard reception. Justin Fish had five catches for 97 yards and a TD. South was down 13-6 and then stormed past MC.

Meanwhile, Bruno Goncalves rushed for a TD and 38 yards. Others who helped out the opening night win: Colvin Levesque (11-yard catch, two rushes for 15 yards) and Preston Bois (23-yard field goal, PAT).

BISHOP GUERTIN 35, PATHFINDER TECH 8

The Cards rolled in Palmer, Mass., up 28-0 at the end of the first quarter.

BG hosts Merrimack next Saturday.

LONDONDERRY 33, ALVIRNE 7

It was a tough night for the Broncos as the Lancers spoiled the debut of new Alvirne coach Justin Hufft. Ethan Dudley scored the locals’ lone TD.

DIVISION II

KINGSWOOD 28, HOLLIS BROOKLINE 0

The home team spoiled the debut of new HB coach Pat Genron, though Cole Duncan (eight catches for 96 yards) and Gabe McGrath (10 tackles on defense) did their part.

“The kids played incredibly tough against a big, strong and fast Kingswood team,” Gendron said.

PLYMOUTH 47, MILFORD 0

The Spartans, who dressed just two seniors and two juniors, kept the game competitive until right before halftime. Jace Wilhemi had 18 tackles while Joey Schnitzler had a pressure and a sack.

“The kids played super hard,” Milford coach Max Morelli said.

DIVISION III

CAMPBELL 24, LACONIA 6

The defending Division III champion Cougars proved they are still a top contender as Braydon White ran for 189 yards and two TDs, while QB Mikey Grace was 3 of 4 for 42 yards, one TD and an INT.

Bronson Leduc had three catches for 42 yards and a TD. Backs Brody Pinciaro and Joel Ducatelli combined for 64 yards on theground as well. Defensively, the Cougars had two sacks for 30 yards.
