The holiday tourney action continued for high school teams on Saturday, from Manchester to Providence, R.I.:
BOYS HOCKEY
PROUT SCHOOL 3, BISHOP GUERTIN 2
The Cards lost their second game to Prout in the last week, but this one was closer at the ProutSchool Holiday Tournament at Providence College. Guertin got a goal by James Mantone, assisted by Jordan Delude, and an unassisted goal by Noah Cordiero.
But the Cards ended up giving up a power play goal with 5:44 left in the contest, falling to 2-4 overall. They won one out of three in the Prout tourney and resume regular season play next Saturday at Pinkerton.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
LEBANON 35, SOUHEGAN 29
The Sabers, still shorthanded, hung in all game with a chance to cut it to a one-position game with 20 seconds left but fell short at the Doug Chandler Holiday Tournament in Manchester.
They missed 11 free throws vs. a team they lost to 54-29 earlier this season and were led by Kayden Merriaam with eight, while Caroline Drum and Phoebe Faucher each had seven. Souhegan wraps up tourney play vs. Manchester Memorial today at 1:30 p.m.
