Welcome to Super Saturday, arguably the busiest high school sports day of the year with quarterfinals and semifinals in just about every spring sport.

Locally, the biggies are Nashua South baseball seeking its first semifinal appearance in well over 10 years; Hollis Brookline girls lacrosse in the semifinals at Stellos and Bishop Guertin facing Souhegan in an all-local semifinal in Exeter tonight.

Here’s a look at how things are locally by sport:

BASEBALL

DIVISION I – One team left, and that’s No. 3, 16-4 Nashua South, which hosts No. 6 Exeter at 11 a.m.at Holman Stadium. The Panthers have a great opportunity to play three games at their home park since the Division I semifinals are at Holman on Wednesday. They’ll start left, off-speed pitcher Nick Shaw on the mound. South beat Exeter 6-1 but that was back in the season’s second game and the Blue Hawks have strong pitching.

Division II – Hollis Brookline (15-1) got a first round bye and will host No. 8 Kingswood in the quarterfinals at 4 p.m. The Cavs, led by the Divison II Player of the Year Padraig Mac Seain, beat Kingswood 10-1 in the regular season but the vistors (11-6) have won seven straight.

Souhegan is the third seed, and the Sabers (15-5) host No. 6 Oyster River (12-5) at 4 p.m.; the Sabers beat OR back on May 6 in Amherst, 4-1. Should be a good one; it’s likely lefty Kyan Bagshaw will take the mound for Souhegan.

Division IV – The Warriors of Wilton-Lyndeborough are the No. 9 seed and will visit No. 1, 15-1 Derryfield on Saturday, which owns two wins over the Warriors, 14-4 and 7-2.

SOFTBALL

There three teams left vying to go to Plymouth State for next Wednesday’s semis:

Division I – No. 9 Bishop Guertin (12-7) advances to the quarterfinals for the first time in a few years, but the reward is a trip to No. 1, 17-1 Exeter at 2:15 p.m. The Cards, however, lost to Exeter just 2-0 back on April 29 so this one could e very interesting.

Division II – No. 6 Hollis Brookline (11-is at No. 3, 14-2 John Stark, whom it lost to 8-6 a week ago. The game time is 3 p.m.

Division III – Defending champion Campbell (15-2), the No. 2 seed, has a tough quarterfinal in a rematch of last year’s title game vs. No. 7 Hopkinton (13-4) at 1 p.m. in Litchfield. They beat the Hawks twice last month, 3-2 at home and 11-5 on the road.

BOYS LACROSSE

Division I – It starts bright and early today at 11 a.m. As No. 6 Pinkerton (10-8) is at No. 3 Nashua South (14-4) at Stellos Stadium in the quarterfinals; the Panthers beat the Astros for the first time in recent memory a couple of weeks ago, 7-3.

Then at 3:30, No. 2 Bishop Guertin (16-2) will host No. 7 Bedford (8-8) at Stellos at 3:30 p.m. Guertin handled Bedford 15-7 on May. 9.

You can then head to Lononderry to catch the second half of No. 5 Merrimack (10-7) at No. 4 Londonderry (12-6). One of those 12 Lancer wins came earlier in the spring over the Tomahawks, 10-7, in Merrimack.

If BG and South win, they’ll meet in the semis next Wednesday at Exeter. Merrimack with a win likely would play the top seeded Blue Hawks of Exeter in the other semi.

Division III – The powerful No. 1 Campbell Cougars (15-0) got a first round bye and host No. 9 Gilford, which beat Kearsarge 4-3 in the first round.in the quarterfinals on Saturday. The Cougars beat Gilford 13-7 back in April. The semis are next Wednesday at 7:15 p.m. at Laconia’s Bank of New Hampshire Stadium.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Division I – It’s the big battle with No. 1 Bishop Guertin (15-1) taking on No. 4 Souhegan (13-3) tonight in Exeter’s Bill Ball Stadium at 7. The Sabers kept BG off the scoreboard for the first 11 minutes of their regular season meeting back in late April but still fell 18-8. The winner gets either Bedford or Pinkerton in Tuesday’s finals in Exeter at 7 p.m.

Division II – No. 3 Hollis Brookline (14-4) will take on No. 2 Hanover (12-3) in the semis at Stellos Stadium at approximately 5:30 p.m. Don’t be fooled by the rankings; HB handed the Bears (that’s Hanover’s new nickname) 16-9 back on May 4 in Hollis. The winner goes to the finals at Stellos Wednesday at 7 p.m.

BOYS & GIRLS TRACK

It’s the Meet of Champions today at 2:30 p.m at Sanborn Regional in Kingston, where the best of the best will compete. There are so many locals to keep an eye on, especially Nashua North’s Madelyn Novak who could be a two or three-time state champion in the throwing events.

BOYS AND GIRLS TENNIS

The NHIAA individual Singles and Doubles tournaments begin this weekend, with Singles today and Doubles on Sunday.

The boys singles today are at Pinkerton Academy while the girls are at Southern New Hampshire University and Manchester Memorial. Both at 9 a.m.

Sunday the doubles will be held at SNHU/Derryfield (girls) and Memorial Field in Concord (boys) at 9 a.m.

The semis and finals for boys and girls singles are Tuesday at SNHU (3 p.m.) and doubles are Thursday at SNHU, also at 3.

Favorites? Locally, it would have to be Alvirne’s Peyton Meuse in the boys singles, plus he and brother Ashton in the doubles. In the girls, it’s Merrimack’s Shu Grosso in singles and the team of Grosso and Emily Winefield in doubles.
