The tourney stops continued on Thursday with mixed results, especially for Bishop Guertin. The Cardinals softball team avenged an earlier loss to Alvirne with a prelim round win in Hudson.

However, BG’s baseball team, which went into the Division I tourney on a five game winning streak, was ousted by Bedford.

Here’s a look at yesterday’s ups and downs:

SOFTBALL PRELIMS

DIVISION I

NO. 9 BISHOP GUERTIN 9, NO. 8 ALVIRNE 7

The Cardinals outlasted the Broncos to earn a spot into the next round. Meghan Davey pitched a complete game allowing 10 hits and striking out two. Alvirne took the lead early, pushing across one run in the bottom of the first, but BG regained the lead in the top of the second, scoring two on a double by Bailey Doyle and kept it for the rest of the game.

Offensively, BG produced some timely hits led by Bella Nutting who had three hits. Davey and Maddy Bowen also had two hits apiece.

BG will face No. 1 Exeter on the road Saturday

NO. 5 PINKERTON 10, NO. 12 MERRIMACK 9

The Tomahawks season comes to an end after they lost their battle to the Astros. Hayden Stuart (two hits, two runs, two RBIs), Lily Dionne (two hits, two runs, RBI), Arianna Cray (two hits, three RBIs) and Grace Lawton (100th career hit) played well for Merrimack.

BASEBALL PRELIMS

DIVISION I

NO. 9 BEDFORD 4, NO. 8 BISHOP GUERTIN 2

The Cardinals run ended at Manchester’s Gill Stadium at the hands of the Bulldogs as Evan Kaplo took the loss for BG going five innings allowing four runs on seven hits.

Jake Boudreau pitched two innings of relief.

BG was led offensively by Dominic Monico (triple), Kaplo (hit, RBI) and Brandon Metivier (double).

DIVISION II

NO. 3 SOUHEGAN 6, NO. 14 STEVENS 1

Keegan Burke struck out 12 allowing four hits in a complete game to help the Sabers move past Stevens.

Colin Burke (two hits, run), Hayden Goerlich (hit) and Drew Reagan (hit) led the offensive unit.

Souhegan hosts No. 6 Oyster River on Saturday in the quarterfinals.

NO. 5 HANOVER 3, NO. 12 MILFORD 1

The Spartans lost the lead late in the game and fell to Hanover. Damian Philbrick took the loss pitching six innings allowing four hits, three runs and struck out three.

Jake Lammi had two hits and Nick Conforti added a hit and a RBI.

DIVISION III

NO. 8 HOPKINTON 11, NO. 9 CAMPBELL 1

The Cougars had an off day on the road, ending an otherwise good season (10-7). The Hawks move on to face No. 1 Monadnock in Saturday’s quarters.

DIVISION IV

NO. 9 WILTON-LYNDEBOROUGH 3, NO. 8 CONCORD CHRISTIAN 1

Troy Brennan pitched a complete game two hitter and struck out 16 to lead the Warriors into the next round. Ty Bacci and Sean Brennan had two hits each. WLC faces No. 1 Derryfield on Saturday in the quarters.

BOYS LACROSSE

DIVISION I

NO. 8 CONCORD 6, NO. 9 SOUHEGAN 5

The road comes to an end for the Sabers after a hard fought battle with Concord. Andrew Mullin did everything he could to keep Souhegan in the game by saving 25 shots in net.

Colin Duckless scored two goals with Tony Garrant, Cole Manning and Zach Wyborney adding one goal each.

DIVISION II

NO. 4 TIMBERLANE 15, NO 13 HOLLIS BROOKLINE 7

The Cavaliers were clawed out of the tournament by the Owls on Thursday afternoon. Connor Cook and Colin Corbin led the offense with three and two goals respectively. Andrew Torgersen (goal), Jake Roy (goal, assist), Ben Dufoe (two assists), Colin McGarry (assist) and Justin Colby (85 percent on face-off wins) played well for the Cavs.

NO. 3 WINDHAM 20, NO. 14 ALVIRNE 3

The Broncos got some tournament experience as that was the only silver lining in a rout suffered at the hands of the Jaguars, who next host Winnacunnet in Saturday’s quarterfinals.
