HS Tourney Roundup: BG, HB girls lacrosse teams roll

The high school tournaments are hitting full stride, and today will be no exception as the Nashua North and South baseball teams square off in the first round of the Divison I baseball tournament at 2 p.m.at Holman Stadium.

The No. 5 Alvirne girls tennis team will battle No. 2 Portsmouth in the Divison II finals in Bedford. And the Bishop Guertin at Alvirne softball prelim scheduled for Wednesday will join the fray today at 4 p.m. after it was rained out.

But Wednesday, the Cardinals of Bishop Guertin held serve in routing Exeter in the Division I girls lacrosse prelims. Other top teams won, too, including the No. 3 Hollis Brookline girls lax squad and the No. 2 Campbell softball team.

Here’s the Wednesday rundown:

GIRLS LACROSSE PRELIMS

NO. 1 BISHOP GUERTIN 21, NO. 8 EXETER 5

The Cardinals took care of business to advance past Exeter and into the next round. Scoring for BG were Rylee Bouvier (five goals, three assists), Nat Couto (five goals, assist), Arianna Kouchalakas (three goals, assist), Tess Prunier (two goals, two assists), Steph Reap (two goals, assist), Lauren Redfern (goal, two assists), Deb Moyer (two goals), Katie Campel (goal) and Anna Campel (assist).

Makenna Reekie and Maddy Eder-Linell each made a save in net. Katie Campel also had 16 draw controls and Couto secured her 100th goal.

BG will play Souhegan on Saturday at Bill Ball Stadium in the Semifinals.

NO. 3 HOLLIS BROOKLINE 18, NO. 6 GOFFSTOWN 5

Paige Mello (seven goals, assist) and Alyssa Hill (four goals, six assists) played a big role in helping the Cavaliers speed by the Grizzlies. Kaitlyn Castriotta had a hat trick with four draw controls, Bella Haytayan added two goals and six draw controls and Cailean Roy dished out an assist.

HB faces off against Hanover on Saturday at Stellos Stadium in the Semifinals.

NO. 4 DERRYFIELD 13, NO. 5 CAMPBELL 12

The Cougars season comes to end after a back and forth battle with Derryfield. Elayna Montenero had a terrific game scoring six goals.

Brooke Stoncius tallied three goals and an assist and Kristina Castellano added two goals and an assist. Campbell had a 65 percent draw control led by Castellano.

SOFTBALL PRELIMS

DIVISION II

NO. 6 HOLLIS BROOKLINE 12, NO. 11 PEMBROKE 3

The Cavaliers were strong out of the gate and topped Pembroke in the first round. Emily Tebbetts (two singles, double), Austyn Kump (two singles, triple), Ally Johnson (three singles, RBI), Kailey Disco (double, RBI), Savannah Duquette (single, double, two RBIs), Olivia Colantuonio (two singles, three RBIs), Ava Imbrogno (RBI), Meghan Park (single) and Emily Sartell (single, RBI) were unstoppable at the plate. Kump allowed three hits while striking out 11.

HB visits John Stark on Saturday in the Quarterfinals.

NO. 3 KINGSWOOD 12, NO. 12 MILFORD 3

Last spring was magical for the Spartans as they made the title game, but this spring’s postseason ended early with a tough loss at the hands of their 13-4 hosts.

The Spartans wind up at 7-10

DIVISION III

NO. 2 CAMPBELL 16, NO. 15 SOMERSWORTH 0

Catherine Carignan collected a no hitter striking out 13 leading the Cougars to a shutout win. Carignan also added three hits out of Campbell’s 12 hits on the day.

Campbell hosts the winner of Hopkinton/White Mountains on Saturday.
