NASHUA – Another big high school basketball night is upon us, and once again the center of attention will be at Nashua High School North.

The Titans boys basketball team, in a week of big games, faces yet another one tonight at home vs. 8-3 Exeter.

North is now 7-2 after a big win Wednesday night at Pinkerton, as the Titans bounced back in a good way from the tough 50-49 loss at the hands of Bishop Guertin on Monday. North’s Trevor Labrecque continues to be a standout as he scored 27 the other night in the win, and no doubt he’ll be the object of the Blue Hawks’ attention tonight.

Labrecque had 24 in the loss to BG. His 27 would have nearly outscored the entire Exeter squad the other night, as the Blue Hawks edged Merrimack in an unusually low-scoring 34-33 affair.

Exeter’s last trip to the area before the other night was a Saturday morning loss to Bishop Guertin a week before Christmas. They then reeled off seven in a row and have been led by junior sharpshooter Evan Pafford.

Meanwhile, the Nashua South boys (5-5) will also have a big test, this one on the road at unbeaten (8-0) Trinity of Manchester. The Pioneers are led by a Merrimack resident, Tyler Bike, the team’s point guard. They are coached by his father, Keith Bike.

South hasn’t played since Monday; the Panthers’ game at Dover Wednesday was postponed to this coming Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Bishop Guertin is at Manchester Memorial, Alvirne is headed back east to face Winnacunnet after a big road win over Spaulding the other night, Merrimack is at Portsmouth and Campbell in Division III is playing its first game since a pandemic pause at home vs. Stevens.

In girls hoop, an interesting game will be in Merrimack with the 6-4 Tomahawks hosting 8-1 Portsmouth; the Clippers have ripped off seven in a row since doing what everyone has done this year: lose to Pinkerton.

Nashua South hosts Trinity as the Panthers are still seeking their first win; Nashua North is at Exeter trying to snap a seven-game losing streak. Alvirne hosts Winnacunnet and Bishop Guertin, fresh off a big win over Central Catholic of Lawrence, Mass. hosts Manchester Memorial. The Crusaders have been contenders the past few years but are struggling a bit at 3-6, having lost five straight.
