HS Roundup: Guibord paces BG; Panthers fit to be tied

It’s been a good combination in this young field hockey season for Bishop Guertin: Taylor Guibord and Rylee Bouvier. The pair had success again on Wednesday, while Nashua South felt the frustration of another tie and Merrimack of a one-goal loss.
The Cardinal boys soccer team, however, picked up a win. These are the details on a light day on the high school front:

MANCHESTER CENTRAL 0
Guibord scored twice with Bouvier assisting both times at Stellos Stadium as the Cards improved to 2-0-1.
After a scoreless first half, Guibord tallied in the third quarter and again in the fourth for the win.
Guertin is at Concord on Friday.
NASHUA SOUTH 1,
MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 1 (2 OT)
The Panthers have now begun the season with two straight ties (0-0-2), this time having the frustration in Manchester of having two goals called back.
Kaitlyn West, however, scored off a tip from Karina O’Donnell. Kaitlyn Tello had six saves in the Panther goal with defensive help by Lizzie DeRusha.
Soth visits Keene next Tuesday.
PINKERTON 1,
MERRIMACK 0
The Tomahawks (0-2) played well defensively in a tight game with the Astros but Pinkerton’s Ava Bennett broke through with the game’s only goal with 9:26 left in the contest.
Leah Saari had eight saves for Merrimack, which hosts unbeaten Exeter on Friday.

Sam Veilleux scored in the eighth minute of sudden death overtime in the pouring rain after an initial save by Cavs keeper Maggie Crooks to drop host HB to 1-1.
And that happened after the Generals tied the game with a minute left in regulation off a corner kick.Rachel Brackett had a goal and an assist while Sofia Wale scored HB’s other goal. Lily Bouchard added an assist.
Down 2-0, Stark scored its first goal with nine minutes remaining.

The Cardinals beat both the Blackbirds and the pouring rain at Stellos Stadium to improve to 1-1.
Guertin is at Winnacunnet next Tuesday.

The Broncos bowed to the Warriors by Dylan McCarthy helped the Broncos snap a tie with Souhegan to get the first win of their season in a match that was moved up from Thursday due to the forecast.
