Tough night for Cougars as Pelham gets a hoop sweep
It was a tough night once again for Campbell High School basketball on Thursday.
The Cougar girls fell 52-29 at the hands of Pelham in Litchfield, while the Campbell boys dropped a 66-46 decision at Pelham.
The Cougar girls were within 28-21 at the half, but were held scoreless in the third as Pelham cruised to their second win. The Cougars (0-2) were led by Tori Allen’s 12 points and 14 boards, while Karleigh Schultz added seven points and Alyssa Gonzalez had five.
In the boys game, Pelham’s Jake Dumont was a catalyst again for the 2-0 Pythons as he had 16 points in the first quarter with four 3-pointers as the hosts took a 29-17 lead after one. Dumont had five 3’s in the win over Campbell on Monday.
The Cougar girls fell to 0-2 and will look for their first win of the season against Manchester West on Tuesday. The Campbell boys (0-2) will host Hollis Brookline next Friday.
