Rain, rain, go away – but still two local high school teams found a way to play and another used the great indoors in a light Thursday schedule, as one might imagine.

But one of those games included a great milestone, so the Nashua High School South girls lacrosse team was glad it was played.

GIRLS LACROSSE

NASHUA SOUTH 7, DOVER 1

The visiting Panthers braved the elements with sophomore Carly Benzekri getting her 100th career goal as one of her five on the day to go with an assist. Just a week ago Benzekri got her 100th career point.

Also for South, Briley Landsteiner and Gemma Williams each had a goal and Lexi McGuire had an assist. Defensively, Emma Herliy had five saves in goal while Karina Santana, Maddie Langer and Nitzann Alkalay combined for five ground balls and caused two turnovers.

South plays Londonderry on Monday.

BOYS LACROSSE

ST. THOMAS 11, SOUHEGAN 5

The Saints kept Sabers goalie Sean Reardon busy as he made 15 saves. Owen Mobley led Souhegan with two goals while Reid Kimball (goal, assist) and Judd Harris and Rob Goodhue (goal apiece) provided the locals’ offense.

Now 2-8, Souhegan hosts Spaulding on Monday at 5:30 p.m.

GIRLS TENNIS

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 7, GOFFSTOWN 2

The Cavaliers won five of six singles to take control in a match played indoors at Longfellow Tennis Club in Nashua, their home court.

Winners included Heiplik at No. 1 (8-1), Max Walsh at No. 3 (8-3), Carlie Holt at No. 4 (8-4), Maddie Barich at No. 5 (8-0) and Bianca Campanella at No. 6 in a hard fought 8-6 match.

The Cavs took two of three doubles with Heiplik/Walsh (8-0) and Sapph Sidu/Barich (8-4) coming out on top.

Now 8-4, the Cavs host Merrimack today at Longfellow.
