Admirals get big win; HB and Pelham split hoop twinbill

The Alvirne-Milford hockey team picked up its first win of the season, over Division III power Kennett to highlight Thursday’s light high school schedule. Meanwhile, Hollis Brookline and Pelham split a basketball doubleheader.

Here’s a look:

BOYS HOCKEY

ALVIRNE-MILFORD 5,

KENNETT 4

The Admirals picked up their first win of the season, led by Matt Ryan’s two goals. Hayden Ricard scored the first goal of his high school career, and Dylan Greenlaw and Anthony DeRosa also had a goal apiece.

The Admirals (1-1) host Dover on Saturday at Skate 3.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 55,

PELHAM 44

HB’s Elisabeth Staplefeld led all scorers with 23 points, while Christina Balsamo had 21 and Cheyenne Colbert had 13 rebounds. The Cavs (2-0) host Manchester West on Monday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

PELHAM 47,

HOLLIS BROOKLINE 42

The Cavs fell to 1-1 despite 10 points from Grant Snyder, and eight apiece fro Matt Dias and Robbie Haytayan.
