Nashua native J. Joseph Grandmaison, longtime state, national political figure, has died

PORTSMOUTH — J. Joseph “Joe” Grandmaison, a Nashua native whose early involvement in Nashua and New Hampshire politics led to a 50-year career at the national level, has died.
Grandmaison, who served as a senior governmental appointee under three presidents, was 79.
His brother, Philip Grandmaison, said he died from the effects of Parkinson’s disease at Wentworth Senior Living in Portsmouth, where he lived for the past two years.
Grandmaison’s death was announced by his brother and the New Hampshire Democratic Party.
