HUDSON – The Hudson-Litchfield Rotary Club is partnering with Nashua-based RMG Electronics on Saturday for an electronics-recycling event, which gives area residents the opportunity to recycle old, broken and unwanted electronic devices and components while supporting the Rotary Club’s community service projects.

The “Rotary Electronics Recycling Fundraiser” will take place Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Alvirne High School, 200 Derry Road.

A team of club members and volunteers will unload the items from vehicles, without the need for drivers to get out of their cars, according to Rotarian Sean Duffy.

The club is asking for a modest donation for each of the items, which will be collected at the drop-off location.

For additional details, along with suggested donation amounts for various types of electronics, go to the Rotary Club’s website, https://portal.ca/2931, the club’s Facebook page, or call 882-5289.

RMG Electronics is a certified recycler that will ensure protected, secure disassembly and reclamation of the significant majority of components that are dropped off on Saturday.

The firm guarantees that all components will be disassembled and recycled securely.

According to the EPA, “recycling one million laptops can save the energy equivalent of electricity that can run 3,657 U.S. households for a year. Recycling one million cell phones can also recover 75 pounds of gold, 772 pounds of silver, 35,274 pounds of copper, and 33 pounds of palladium,” according to the agency.

Proceeds of Saturday’s fundraiser will be used to support the Hudson-Litchfield Rotary Club’s college, vocational, and nursing scholarships; scouting; housing and food pantry agencies; and many other community service projects.
