Balin Books to host Manga Day on Nov. 8
NASHUA – Manga fans are invited to Balin Books on Nov. 8 for a day dedicated to all things Manga and comic inspiration.
The day will include the opportunity at 11 a.m. to meet author Perry Metzger and illustrator Jerel Dye discussing their new book Science Comics: Computers: How Digital Hardware Works. In this fully illustrated book perfect for middle schoolers (and some non-geek adults) Professor Isabella Brunel, Victorian Era Computer Expert (and a Tyrannosaurus Rex), narrates a screwball comedy romp through the fundamentals of computer architecture. Perry Metzger has a computer science degree and a terrible sense of humor. Jerel Dye has been teaching courses in drawing, cartooning and comics to adults in Massachusetts since 2010.
At 2 p.m., manga creator Christopher Fisk will be discussing his new series the Infinitale Chronicles. Whether you’re a longtime manga fan or just curious to dive into the world of Japanese-inspired comics, this is the perfect chance to connect with the stories and a local creator behind one of them. On the world of Esperia in the Infinitale Chronicles the immortal Aelvars live in eternal youth under the rule of mighty gods who demand absolute obedience. When an Aelvar queen gives birth to a son fated for sacrifice, her haunting visions send her husband on a perilous quest to defy the gods – and change their world forever.
Fisk is a storyteller at heart. His creative interests have landed him roles in video game development for such titles as: Firefall, Defiance, Assassin’s Creed: Memories as well as multiple unreleased projects
Everyone is welcome at this event offering free Manga-themed promotional items (while supplies last), and the chance to connect with fellow Manga enthusiasts! For more information call the bookstore at 603-417-7981 or check online at Balinbooks.com.
