The New England Patriots will be ready for whatever the New York Giants coaching staff under interim head coach Mike Kafka will throw at them on Monday night when the teams meet at Gillette Stadium.

That’s what Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said Saturday, and Vrabel knows how things can go when there’s a change.

“We’ll have to be ready for anything that they could possibly do,” he said. “Flea flickers, reverses, fake punts. We’ll have to be sound in all areas, and then we’ll have to defend, be prepared and try to handle anything that they could do.

“They’re going to try to win the football game. They’re going to try to coach their team to however they feel like is best for them, nd put the players in the position to succeed. So, whether that’s running inside zone or quarterback throwback, whatever it may be, we’ll have to be ready for it.”

INJURY UPDATES

Vrabel has confirmed that injured left guard Jared Wilson will miss Monday night’s game with his high ankle sprain. Meanwhile, linebacker Harold Landry and defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga are questionable. Special teamer Brenden Schooler will also be out Monday night, also with an ankle injury.

Everyone else who has been on the injury list practiced fully on Saturday.

Meanwhile the Giants have declared linebacker Kayvon Thibodeau (shoulder) as out. Four others — corner Korie Black, and linebackers Swayze Boseman, Victor Dimukeje and Demetrius Flannigan-Fowlers as questionable.

There was no designation for defennsive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who returned to practice (limited, elbow) on Saturday. Corner Paulson Adebo was also limited.

MONDAY NIGHT LEGACY

Mike Vrabel played in the last Monday Night Football game that was part of the exclusive ABC series on Dec. 26, 2005 in East Rutherford, N.J. between the Patriots and Jets. And he had a good night.

“I had two touchdowns and a sack on the last Monday night game on ABC,” he said Saturday. “That’s not bad.” Vrabel was used as a tight end in those two situations.

Of course Monday Night games are back on ABC from time to time when the NFL has two games, but they have been mainly on ESPN since 2006. Both networks are owned by Disney.
