HARTFORD, Conn. — Despite a four-run seventh inning, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (12-17, 46-50) dropped their seventh game in a row at Dunkin’ Park on Thursday night against the Hartford Yard Goats (13-16, 52-45), 10-5.

New Hampshire starter Chris McElvain (L, 3-7) was in control through the first three innings but ran into trouble in the fourth. The right-hander ultimately allowed six earned runs on eight hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 3-2/3 innings.

Reliever Angel Obando dazzled in his outing with 2-1/3 hitless innings. T.J. Brock made his first appearance with the Fisher Cats since 2024, and Aaron Munson tossed his fifth consecutive scoreless outing.

Hartford starter Jack Mahoney (W, 7-1) gave up one run in the win on six hits and three walks while racking up six strikeouts. The outing was Mahoney’s fifth straight quality start as the righty lowered his ERA to 1.99. Lefty Sam Weatherly (SV, 1) notched a seven-out save with three strikeouts.

Hartford struck first on Thursday night. With one out, third baseman Dyan Jorge was hit by a pitch and stole second. The next batter, shortstop Andy Perez, laced an RBI single and made it 1-0.

New Hampshire answered in the top of the third. With one away, designated hitter Eddie Micheletti Jr. singled. Two batters later, left fielder Hedbert Perez ripped an RBI double and tied the score at one.

The Yard Goats scored five in the fourth and took a commanding lead. Perez singled to start the frame. Two batters later left fielder Braylen Wimmer doubled. With runners at second and third, first baseman Aidan Longwell cracked a sacrifice fly.

The Goats’ bats stayed hot in the fourth. Designated hitter Mike Antico (2) walloped a two-run homer which made it 4-1. Following a double, right fielder GJ Hill (11) launched another two-run blast and gave Hartford a five-run advantage.

Despite the deficit, the Cats rallied with four runs in the seventh. Third baseman Cutter Coffey walked and second baseman Cade Doughty singled. A wild pitch moved both runners up a base, and a groundout allowed Coffey to scamper home. Doughty scored one batter later on a sacrifice fly from Arjun Nimmala which made it 6-3. Following a double from Micheletti Jr, first baseman Dub Gleed (4) demolished a two-run blast and made it a one-run game.

Hartford matched the Cats with four in the bottom of the seventh. Highlighting the inning was a three-run home run from second baseman Roc Riggio. New Hampshire failed to score in the eighth or ninth and dropped their seventh straight game, 10-5.

The Fisher Cats and Yard Goats continue their six-game series on Friday, July 31, with a doubleheader beginning at 5:05 p.m. at Dunkin’ Park. New Hampshire’s Gage Stanifer (3-7, 4.52 ERA) is penciled to start game one against Hartford’s Konner Eaton (4-1, 3.88 ERA).

In game two, right-hander Austin Cates (1-4, 5.40 ERA) will start for the Cats and the Yard Goats’ starter is TBD. Coverage begins at 4:40 p.m.on the Fisher Cats Radio Network.
