Red Sox sign top pick Witherspoon and 15 other picks

BOSTON — The Boston Red Sox have signed 16 players selected in the 2025 MLB First-Year Player Draft, including right-handed pitcher Kyson Witherspoon, who the club drafted in the first round. Boston also signed non-drafted outfielder Andrews Opata out of North Georgia College.
The Red Sox have signed five of their first seven selections in this year’s draft: right-handed pitchers Marcus Phillips (Competitive Balance Round A), Anthony Eyanson (3rd round), Christian Foutch (5th round), and Leighton Finley (6th round).
The Red Sox have also signed each of their selections in rounds nine through 19: right-handed pitcher Jacob Mayers (9th round), shortstop Maximus Martin (10th round), right-handed pitcher Barrett Morgan (11th round), left-handed pitcher Ethan Walker (12th round), third baseman Jack Winnay (13th round), right-handed pitcher Carter Rasmussen (14th round), outfielder Skylar King (15th round), left-handed pitcher Jason Gilman (16th round), right-handed pitcher Patrick Galle (17th round), left-handed pitcher Cade Fisher (18th round), and outfielder Fabian Bonilla (19th round).
All signees are slated to report to Fort Myers, Fla.
