NASHUA – Home sweet Holman.

That’s what it’s going to be next weekend for the James E. Coffey Post #3 Senior Legion team as the Defenders clinched a spot in the Senior Legion State Tournament with a 12-6 win over Dover Friday at Bishop Guertin’s Elliott Field.

“With today’s win, we’re in the tournament,” Coffey manager Norm Kerman said, adding that today’s resumption of a suspended game with Exeter at Phillips Exeter will be for seeding purposes.

The hard part is over.

It’s been an interesting few days, as Friday’s game was rescheduled from a Monday rainout. The Defenders were to also resume a suspended game with Salem, but Salem conceeded the contest, Kerman said. That plus the win over Dover gives Nashua an 11-5 record. Londonderry (10-7) is battling Dover (9-7) for the fourth seed.

Bryce Larco gave up six runs (five earned) on 10 hits over 6.1 innings but that was still good enough for the win as he struck out seven and walked one.

Dylan Morelli led the Coffey Kids offense going 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Gavin Santos went 2 for 5 , and Jce Martinez also went 2 for 4. Nick Wyner had a triple and scored two runs with an RBI. Jake Daley had two RBIs. Both teams had 11 hits.

Today’s game vs. Exeter is at 5 p.m, with Exeter up 3-2 in the top of the fifth.
