NASHUA — The Nashua Silver Knights will be looking for a new field manager for the 2025 season.
Their skipper the last five seasons, Kyle Jackson, who has been with the organization overall for 11 years — six as pitching coach — is stepping down, he confirmed.
Jackson, the former Alvirne High School standout and Red Sox minor league pitcher, guided the Knights to two championships, one coming in his first season as manager in 2020 and then two years later, 2022. The team missed the playoffs in his other three seasons, including the last two. They were just 2.5 games out of a postseason spot this year, finishing 27-29.
But Jackson has two young boys and said he was going back and forth on his future all season before telling the team Monday that this year was it.
“I want to be able to pick (his sons) up (from school) and have family vacations next summer,” Jackson said, “rather than waiting until the end of August. I want to be able to set things up with my wife. …
“I think 11 years is pretty good.”
