Raiders ousted by NE College, 3-1, in GNAC Play-In round

NASHUA – The Rivier softball team fell to New England College 3-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Play-In contest in a matchup between the respective fourth and fifth seeds in the GNAC’s North Division by on Tuesday night at Raider Diamond.

The Raiders, who were playing in the postseason for the fourth straight year, conclude their season with a 15-17 overall record.

Riv got on the board first in the bottom of the second inning as Kayla Miles came home from third after a Kylee Caetano steal forced an errant throw into the outfield.

In the top of the third, NEC responded with three runs on two hits and two Raiders errors to take a lead which would last until the final out.

New England Col.’s right-handed pitcher, Olivia Olson, tossed a complete-game allowing just four hits and one run while striking out four in her fourth consecutive victory in the circle.

She outdueled Rivier’s Hailey Berube, who also pitched well in a complete-game effort, allowing just one earned run on seven hits while fanning four and walking just one. Berube ends the season with a solid 10-6 mark.

The Pilgrims advance to GNAC Pod Play this Thursday, May 2 hosted by the North Division’s top seed, Saint Joseph’s (Me.)

Rivier will look to return to the postseason for the fifth consecutive campaign in 2025.
