NASHUA — Rivier University baseball’s first-year player Sebastien Reis picked up his first Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Rookie of the Week honors after a tremendous week at the plate in which he broke the program’s single-season home run record.

Reis helped the Raiders secure three wins this past week while also breaking the Rivier single-season home run record at New England Col. on April 28, totaling five in his first collegiate season. The record was previously held by current assistant coach, Aramis Velez ’13.

In a loss versus Mitchell early in the week on April 23, Reis managed to record an RBI-single to nab an RBI.

Reis combined for two hits (a double and a home run), two RBI, and two runs scored to help the Raiders earn the victory in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader at Colby-Sawyer on April 27.

With two wins at New England Col. the following day, Reis finished the day with a total of four run on five hits, seven RBI tallying his second home run of the outings.

In total, he accumulated six runs and 10 RBI on eight hits with one double and three home runs while adding a stolen base.

Reis was also solid at third base, ending the season with a .946 fielding percentage, only committing one error in this week’s five-game stretch.

Reis and the Raiders wrapped up their season with two wins on the road in Henniker over the Pilgrims on Sunday, finishing the campaign with a 10-22 (6-10 GNAC) record.

GAGNON GNAC GOALIE OF WEEK

Senior goalkeeper Sawyer Gagnon helped shut down the fourth seed in the South Division, JWU-Providence, to lead the Raiders to a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Quarterfinal win at Merrill Field on Saturday, April 27.

This is his fourth GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week honor of the 2024 season.

In the 16-3 win over the Wildcats, Gagnon saw 17 shots, making 14 saves to secure the Rivier victory and advance to the next round. He is now 7-5 this season through 13 starts in between the pipes.

Gagnon and the No. 1 seed in the North Raiders will host Dean, the second seed in the South Division, in the GNAC Semifinal contest on Wednesday with a faceoff set for 7 p.m.
