MLB star Ohtani signing record $700 million contract with Dodgers

Major League baseball star Shohei Ohtani of Japan is no longer a free agent, signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the largest contract in North American sports history — 10 years, $700 million.
Otani, unique in that he can pitch as well as play every day as a DH, announced on his Instagram on Saturday afternoon that he has agreed to sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Reports have this as a record contract for Major League Baseball or even professional sports and it reportedly includes several deferrals.
Ohtani posted a slash lne of .304/.412/.654 with 44 homers and 95 RBIs in 135 games for the Los Angeles Angels in winning his second American League MVP Award.
He did however undergo Tommy John surgery and will be unable to pitch in 2024, but will be able to DH for the Dodgers.
