Coming off a 10-run performance in Pittsfield on Saturday, the Nashua Silver Knights finished their weekend by leaving that game totally in the dust with a 16-6 blowout victory Sunday over the Brockton Rox at Campanelli Stadium.

The game was halted after seven innings due to the FCBL mercy rule.

In an afternoon where the Knights dominated, Brockton actually struck first. Three unanswered runs after three innings had the Rox at a 3-0 lead, including RBIs by D’Angelo Ortiz and Manny Ramirez, Jr.

However, similar to their game Saturday, the Knights once again came from behind. Nashua’s scoring started on a big two-RBI double by Maryland’s Zach Martin in the fourth. In the fifth, Amherst’s Jack McDermott would give Nashua the lead with a two-run knock of his own to make it 4-3 Knights.

Now with the lead in hand, the Silver Knights turned what was a close ballgame into rounds of batting practice. Nashua would add four more runs after McDermott’s RBIs, including Martin smacking a single for another two RBIs in his two-hit, 5-RBI day.

Following their six run fifth inning, Nashua wasn’t done upping the ante. After Brockton added three more in the bottom of the fifth to make it 8-6, the Knights put up a touchdown in the sixth as Brockton started to wave the white flag. Nashua’s onslaught included several Brockton blunders, hitting and walking batters aboard. With five runs already across, Eastern Nazarene’s Shane McNamara capped the inning off with a two-run single to make it 15-6 after six.

Needing one more run to mercy Brockton and pack the bus early, Siena’s Richie Paltridge came in to pinch hit in the seventh. Looking to get home in time for supper, Paltridge made the most of his one at bat with a solo blast to bring the Nashua lead to 10.

Brockton would get nothing going in the bottom half, ending the game after seven.

After a loss to Vermont where the offense was absent, the Knights have put together back-to-back 10+ run performances. Now with two consecutive victories, Nashua will look for three straight after Monday’s off day with a Tuesday matchup at Westfield at 6:30 p.m.
