HS ROUNDUP: Walk-off for ‘Hawks, Milford lax rolls, HB tennis wins

A light Friday on the local high school sports slate with a couple of events wiped out due to field damage from the heavy downpours in the wee hours of yesterday morning. Some tough losses but also a couple of good wins, so let’s take a look:
BASEBALL
PINKERTON 6, NASHUA NORTH 4
The Titans fall short to the Astros Friday afternoon. Sam Kobs (four innings pitched), Cam Hayes (two innings pitched) and Chance Unthank (one inning pitched) each made their varsity debut and combined for three earned runs. Nolan Sullivan (two hits, RBI), Dawson Bolton (hit, RBI) and Ben Kelley (two hits) played well offensively. North visits Exeter on Monday.
ST. THOMAS 12, MILFORD 2
The Spartans woes at the plate continue as they were defeated by St. Thomas. Jack Bonafilia and Gavin Szopa each had hits and Ethan Szopa added a RBI. The pitching combination of Bonafilia, Gabe St. Onge and Charlie Vitali gave up three hits and three earned runs. Milford visits ConVal on Wednesday.
TRINITY 6, ALVIRNE 0
The Broncos were on the other side of the Pioneers Brady Sirois’ no hitter. Alvine’s Gavin Baviello had a no hitter going into the fourth until he gave up a triple. He finished with four and one-third innings pitched allowing three hits, four earned runs and struck out two. Jasper Workman struck out two and gave up one hit in relief. Sirois would also go on to strike out 13 batters. Alvirne hosts Windham on Monday.
SOUHEGAN 8, PEMBROKE 0
The Sabers took advantage of their home field to shutout Pembroke. Alex Trudel struck out 10 batters in five innings. Trudel (two hits, two runs, stolen base), Brody Smith (hit, two runs, stolen base), Joe Mayo (run, RBI), Blake Powers (run, RBI, two stolen bases), Jacob Bryan (run, two RBIs), Jacob Wilson (RBI), Ethan Gaudet (three hits, RBI) and Carter Glines (run) led the charge in the batter’s box. Souhegan hosts Kingswood on Monday.
MERRIMACK 1, SPAULDING 0
Daniel Lavigne (three hits) hit a single to score the game winning run in walk-off fashion for the Tomahawks. Kyle Brander picked up the win allowing four hits and striking out 10 in seven innings. Merrimack visits Pelham on Saturday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 15, MERRIMACK VALLEY 0
Thomas Howie, Keenan Myers, Marco Bergskaug were among those who collected multiple hits. Matthew Howie had four RBIs while Bergskaug had vour walks.
Connor Gryniewicz tossed five perfect innings, striking out eight and walking none. The unbeaten Cavs take on Pelham on Wednesday.
SOFTBALL
MERRIMACK 4, SPAULDING 3
The Tomahawks came away with a win on the road against Spaulding. Bayleigh Robichaud, Olivia Burke and Marissa Nelson each had a hit and a RBI. Allie Wyand, Ashland Simmons and Kendelle Hendrzak added one hit apiece. Nelson pitched a complete game. Merrimack hosts Winnacunnet on Monday.
BOYS LACROSSE
DOVER 17, NASHUA NORTH 6
The Titans struggled at home when the Green Wave came to town on Friday. Nico Bottari scored two goals. Ricky McKenzie and Gavin Dungan each scored one goal with Josh Parsons making 15 saves. North hosts Londonderry on Monday.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 14, PEMBROKE 9
Mike O’Hearn (five goals, assist) and Bennett Torgersen (four goals) paced the offense in the Cavs win. Sam Petrella (three goals, two assists), Luke Kinney (assist), Bryce Cote (assist) added to the offense. Levi Mitchell made nine saves and Dillion Kinney led the defense with four caused turnovers and six ground balls. HB visits Merrimack Valley on Monday.
MILFORD 13, ALVIRNE 0
Dylan McLeod found the back of the net five times in the Spartans shutout win over the Broncos. Bentley Bowers scored a hat trick, Lukas Mangum collected two goals; while Chris Bozza, Tyler Noble and Josh Clark added one goal apiece. Rocco Bartling made five saves.
Milford visits Pelham and Alvirne hosts Derryfield on Monday.
GIRLS LACROSSE
SOUHEGAN 18, SALEM 1
The Sabers dominate the Blue Devils to start off the season. Leading the way for the locals were Izzy Stevenson (two goals, five assists), Libby Kennedy (four goals, assist), Emmie Curran (two goals, two assists), Meredith Heimarck (goal, two assists), Averie Curran (three goals, assist), Lanai Hickman (three goals, assist), Abby Gray (goal), Madeline Houle (goal) and Haley Christianson (goal, assist). Souhegan hosts Portsmouth on Monday.
BOYS TENNIS
NASHUA NORTH 8, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 1
The Titans swept singles to improve to 2-2. Winners included Graham Gordon (8-3), Brady O’Connor, Connor McInerney and Aadhavan Veerendra (all 8-0), Ben Husson (8-2) and Rishabh Prashant Murthy (8-0).

BISHOP GUERTIN 8, MANCHESTER CENTRAL 1
The Cards made easy work of the Little Green to earn their first win (1-2) with a singles sweep. Winners were Jack Kostansek (8-6), Evan Deyak (8-2), Jonny Perrott (9-7), Jaxon Deyak (8-1), Mingjing Tang (8-1) and Mason Chen (8-1).
Kostansek/Jason Deyak (8-1) won and Evan Deyak/Perrott won at No. 2 by default.
HOLLIS BROOKLINE 7, PORTSMOUTH 2
The Cavaliers (5-0) showed how good they can be by handing the Clippers (3-1) their first loss, taking five of six singles t clinch it.
Singles winners were John Torpey (8-3), Samuel Anthony (8-3), Samuel Pistor (8-2), Greyson McSeveney (8-6) and Eli Mazzola (8-4).
In doubles, Arjun Inakollu/Anthony (8-4) and Torpey/Pistor (8-1) also triumphed.
BOW 8, SOUHEGAN 1
The Sabers could only manage a win at No. 2 doubles as the tandem of Patrick Bryson/Brock Keener won 8-5.
GIRLS TENNIS
NASHUA NORTH 8, MANCHESTER MEMORIAL 1
The Titans swept singles with wins from Gabi Desjardins, Leena Srinivas, Mariana Cajigas, Aleena Reth, Addie Bueno, andBridgette Bennett.
The doubles teams of Desjardins/Cajigas and Srinivas/Reth also won. North hosts Dover on Monday.
