One local team is in, and the other one wants to be.

It appears the powerful Nashua James E. Coffey Post #3 Senior Legion team clinched a spot in the state tournament set for Holman Stadium later this month, thanks to its 6-3 win at Exeter on Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Hudson Post 48 squad is fighting to get District B’s fourth and final spot, but yesterday’s tough 7-6 loss to Rochester didn’t help.

Here’s a look at the two teams’ different Thursdays:

NASHUA 6, EXETER 3

Nolan Mederos allowed just one earned run (three overall) over six innings as Coffey Post improved to 12-1 atop District B. He allowed five hits, striking out 11 while walking two.

Sam Franco got the save for Nashua with a scoreless seventh. Offensively, Ryan Bourgeois continued his strong summer with three hits, including two doubles and three runs scored. Dom Monico added two hits while Isaiah Hedquist (RBI), Colin Holbrook (RBI) and Connor Hale also had hits.

That followed up Wednesday’s 6-2, 14-0 doubleheader sweep of Rochester at Holman Stadium.

Elias Bourque tossed a complete game in Game 1, allowing 0 earned runs while fanning nine. Zak Lussier had two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs.

Hale tossed four innings for the win in the mercy-ruled nightcap. Bourgeois and Jake O’Connor had multi hit games to help pace the offense.

ROCHESTER 7, HUDSON POST 48 6

There is no quit in the 48ers, as they trailed Rochester 6-0 but tied the game with six runs in the top of the sixth before giving up a run in the bottom half to fall to 6-7. The locals appear to be battling 5-6 Dover for that final postseason spot.

Hudson was held to one hit through the first five frames but had six in its big sixth inning with clutch RBIs by Brady Siard, Travis Holbrook, and Nick Jacques.

Hudson is at Salem today at Michele Park at 5:30 p.m.
