DURHAM, N.H. – Sophomore quarterback Bret Edwards (Lowell, Mass.) passed for a pair of touchdowns, sophomore Dylan Laube (Westhampton, N.Y.) scored two TDs and grad student safety Evan Horn (Lebanon, Pa.) collected a couple of interceptions to lead the University of New Hampshire football team to a 26-14 win over Towson in front of 10,247 in Wildcat Stadium on Saturday night.

Head coach Sean McDonnell notched his 100th regular season Colonial Athletic Association victory, becoming just the third coach to reach that milestone. Retired coaches Andy Talley (Villanova) at 142 and Jimmye Laycock (111) also hit the century mark.

UNH improved to 2-0 for the season. Both are CAA wins.

The Wildcats now hit the road for a pair of games. They play at Lafayette of the Patriot League on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 12:30 p.m. and face Pittsburgh in their FBS matchup Saturday, Sept. 25.

The Wildcat defense, after collecting three turnovers in an opening win over Stony Brook, came up with four interceptions against Towson. The two interceptions were the first of the season for Horn and give him 13 for his career.

Redshirt freshman safety Noah Stansbury (Orange, N.J.) and senior safety Pop Bush (Nocatee, Fla.) also had interceptions. It was Bush’s second pick in as many games and third of his career.

Senior defensive tackle Elijah Lewis (New Castle, Del.) had nine tackles, including a pair of sacks. Sophomore Derek Thompson (Bear, Del.) also had nine tackles.

Edwards completed 24 of his 32 passes for 261 yards and the two scores.

Laube scored his first TD on a 32-yard run in the second quarter and his next on a 2-yard pass from Edwards in the fourth. He rushed 11 times for 77 yards and caught a pair of passes for 13 yards.

Junior Sean Coyne (Portsmouth, R.I.) led UNH receivers with nine catches for 113 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown.

UNH returns to Wildcat Stadium to play James Madison for Homecoming on Oct. 2.
