New Hampshire ends long drought with LLWS win, 4-1

By Tom King - Staff Writer | Aug 22, 2021

For the first time in 15 years, New Hampshire has a victory in the Little League World Series.

Tristan Lucier struck out 10 as New Hampshire topped Nolensville, Tenn. 4-1 on Saturday in Williamsport, Pa., keeping the state’s team, made up of All-Stars from North Manchester/Hooksett, alive in the event.

New Hampshire plays the loser of Sunday’s game between Lake Oswego, Ore. and Sioux Falls, S.D. on Monday at 3 p.m., on ESPN.

Mason DeVall led New Hampshire going 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Lucier went 1 for 1 with two walks and two runs. Two wild pitches gave NH an early 2-0 lead.

After Tennessee cut the deficit in half to 2-1, New Hampshire got a two-run hit by Keith Townsend, who ended up pitching the final inning.

New Hampshire will attempt to continue to fight its way out of the losers bracket after dropping its opener to Torrance, Calif. last week.

It’s the state’s first appearance in the event since Portsmouth took a team there in 2006, going 2-2 and reaching the quarterfinals.
