Struggling Raiders drop GNAC doubleheader at Lasell

MELROSE, Mass. – The Rivier baseball team dropped a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader at Lasell on Sunday afternoon at Kezer Field.
With the result, the Raiders moved to 10-19 (5-11 GNAC), while the Lasers moved to 15-7 (9-11 GNAC).
Lasell 5, Rivier 4 (7 inn.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Lasers struck first, scoring a run in the opening inning.
In the third, the Raiders took a 3-1 lead. Junior Colton Colleran delivered an RBI double to score classmate Liam Stott and tie the game, before fellow junior Sebastien Reis blasted a two-run homer over the center field fence.
Sophomore Brady Balint extended Rivier’s lead in the fourth with an RBI single, bringing home senior Matt Lebrecque to make it 4-1.
The Lasers cut the deficit in half in the fifth to make it 4-2, then plated three runs in the seventh to secure a 5-4 victory.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
Graduate student Nate Bonacorsi and senior Ty Baker combined for six strikeouts with three apiece..Stott went 3-of-4 with a run scored…Reis went 2-of-3 with two RBI and a run scored.
Lasell 14, Rivier 2 (7 inn.)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lasell plated 14 runs off 10 hits through the first three innings of play.
First-year Shay Collins and Reis each delivered an RBI in the sixth inning to put Rivier on the board, 14-2.
BOX SCORE BREAKDOWN
First-year Ian McDonald and Stott each registered a hit and scored a run.
UP NEXT
The Raiders are back in action for a non-conference contest with Suffolk on Wednesday, April 22, with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m. at Harvey Woods.
