It was a pretty good run, no pun intended.

For the first time since they came into the Futures Collegiate Baseball League in 2014, the Worcester Bravehearts won’t be in the FCBL finals.

What happened? Simple — the Vermont Lake Monsters happened.

Vermont, which dominated the regular season this summer with 40 wins, topped the Bravehearts 4-3 to complete a 2-game semifinal sweep.

Former Nashua Silver Knight Pat Harrington of Bedford got the start and the win for Vermont, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out eight over six innings.

The Lake Monsters will have to wait to see who they will face in the finals, as Pittsfield evened its best-of-three semis series with Brockton yesterday with a 6-5 win over Brockton at Campenelli Stadium. The two will play a deciding third game tonight at Pittsfield’s Wahconah Park.

Brian Schaub had two hits and two RBIs to lead Vermont.

In Brockton, the Rox, who had a 1-0 series lead, jumped out to a 4-0 lead before the Suns rallied in the middle innings and scored two unearned runs in the sixth (one on an error, other on a wild pitch) to take a 6-4 lead.
